  • Contribute a ‘Spiritual Point’ in the MOD monthly journal Defence Focus.
  • Support a case against religious discrimination in the Senior Service.
  • Brief the Joint Equality and Diversity Training Centre at the Defence Academy on Humanism and ‘no god’ belief.
  • Contribute to a pluralist Remembrance Parade in Iraq.
  • Contribute to public debate on belief in the Armed forces.

UKAFHA Objectives

  • Battle discrimination against the non-religious and champion freedom of belief for all.
  • Pursue formal recognition with the Ministry of Defence.
  • Agree the appointment of an honorary Humanist Chaplain to the Armed Forces.
  • Encourage the British Humanist Association to develop a language of ‘chaplaincy’ and ‘pastoral care’.
  • Make Remembrance a pluralist societal ceremony incorporating those of all religions or beliefs and none.
  • Conduct positive engagement, not adversarial challenge.
